Snickerdoodles

Sent to us by: Shoshana Kleiman who wrote, "I can’t take credit for this – this recipe has been in the family since before I was born."

Ingredients:
  •   ½ cup margarine or butter

  •   ¾ cup sugar

  •   1 large egg

  •   1 ¼ cup flour

  •   1 tsp cream of tarter

  •   ½ tsp salt

  •  1 Tbs sugar

  •   1 Tbs cinnamon

Steps:
  1. Beat the margarine or butter until fluffy.
  2. Beat in sugar, then beat in the egg.
  3. Combine the flour, cream of tarter and salt.
  4. Beat flour mixture into the margarine mixture. Refrigerate the dough for at least one hour.
  5. Preheat the oven to 375º.
  6. Line the cookie sheet with baking paper.
  7. Combine the sugar and cinnamon in a large bowl.
  8. Roll the dough into balls about the size of a walnut. Then roll them in the sugar cinnamon and place on the cookie sheet at least an inch and a half apart.
  9. Bake 10-12 minutes.

 

Yields about 30 cookies.
